Innovation in the Delivery of Legal Services

Knowledge Management (KM) at Littler connects our attorneys and clients to the collective knowledge and insights of our more than 1,800 Littler attorneys. KM provides our attorneys with the tools, services, products, and support necessary to consistently deliver quality client services across practice areas and locations. KM also harnesses the knowledge and innovations of our attorneys and employs creative technologies to distribute legal information and deliver legal services directly to clients.

Littler’s KM department is made up of experienced employment attorneys, technologists, legal researchers, and content administrators who enhance client access to Littler’s significant knowledge and resources. Through KM’s research support services, technologies, and applications, we provide innovative solutions for our clients’ business problems.

Harnessing technology, KM provides practice area support throughout the firm, delivering a more efficient and cost-effective way to provide legal services to clients. From document automation and legal expert systems, to an online marketplace housing client resources, KM’s innovative solutions bring together the knowledge and experience of our attorneys. But the technology we use is only a means to an end – it is our collective knowledge and experience that remains at the core of everything we do.

Littler’s innovative products and services have received numerous industry awards and recognition. Visit the Innovation section of our website to learn more.

Internal Resources to Improve Efficiency

Behind the scenes, KM provides tools to make our attorneys more efficient. For example, the Littler Release Agreement Builder provides not only a state-of-the-art release template, but also gives our attorneys a collection of guideposts that other colleagues have considered when drafting release agreements. Similarly, we use document automation, template libraries, and expert systems in a wide range of practice areas, including, among others, arbitration, labor relations, wage and hour and workplace safety. For example, Littler HR PolicySmart® (available through ComplianceHR) provides continuous access to up-to-date handbook templates for all 50 states, as well as summaries of handbook-related legal developments, redlined policy updates, a calendar tracking upcoming effective dates for laws potentially impacting employee-facing policies, and a bi-monthly newsletter notifying attorneys of the month’s handbook-related developments and effective dates. These resources make Littler’s legal practice more efficient by gathering our best insights, jump starting research and presenting the material in a customized fashion to provide our professionals with the information they need when they need it.
